DIE HÖHNER (COLOGNE DIALECT FOR ‘HÜHNER’, ORIGINALLY DE HÖHNER FOR ‘THE HENS’) ARE THE CULT BAND OF COLOGNE.

Their best-known songs include the carnival hits “Schenk mir dein Herz,” 2Ich bin ene Räuber,” and the nationally known “Viva Colonia,” as well as the song for the 2007 Handball World Cup, “Wenn nicht jetzt, wann dann” (If not now, when?), and the hit “Steh auf, mach laut!” (Stand up, make loud!), which was frequently played during the 2014 World Cup.

In 1972, Peter Werner, Walter Pelzer, Rolf Lessenich and Janus Fröhlich founded the band “Ne Höhnerhoff”. In the early years, the band members performed in chicken costumes. It was common for the band to go on stage and ask “Gack gack gack?” to which the audience responded with “Gack gack gack!”.

The band renamed itself “De Höhner” in 1975. The hit “Ich ben ne Räuber (I’m a robber)” was on the album “Verzäll doch ens”, which was released in 1979. In the same year the group brought out their greatest successes.

In 2003, the group achieved a Germany-wide success with the title “Viva Colonia”. The song also became a Wies’n hit at the Munich Oktoberfest in 2004 and 2005.

JÜRGEN DREWS’ CAREER BEGAN AS EARLY AS THE 1960S, WHEN HE FIRST PERFORMED WITH THE BANJO IN THE SCHOOL BAND “DIE SCHNIRPELS”, AFTER BEING VOTED THE BEST BANJO PLAYER IN SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN AT THE AGE OF 15.

Afterwards he founded his rock band “Die Anderen”, with whom he attracted more attention for the first time and released two albums. In the early 70s he became a member of the Les Humphries Singers, who were at the height of their success at the time, and he still sings the hits like “Mexico” at his concerts.
